Mount And Blade Viking Conquest Best Troops

06.01.2020

I'm aiming to be Empress of Britannia and I don't want to use any filthy viking troops lol. I read some guides and it seems as I thought that cavalry and archers suck in this game, and infantry rule. However the guides recommend Danish Vikings, Svear (viking) mercenaries and Norwegian (viking) Huscarls as the best 3 units. I really don't want vikings thoughOne other thing, no spoilers please but I'm playing Story mode and would like to know if I can make my own faction after I finish the game.SPOILERS.I chose to side with Wessex and had to swear fealty to the Brytenwalda. However, I do want to start my own faction someday. Will I ever be allowed to?

If not I will just back Wessex all the way and wipe out the Vikings, but if I can then I shouldn't do that because giving Frisia, Northumbria, Denmark and Norway to Wessex will make taking over the map really damn hard, plus it's only Britain that I want and Wessex would be constantly declaring war and launching overseas invasions to retake their South Britain territory. You can after story mode ends, go back to Sandbox mode.

It just puts you back on the map, with the main quest finished, and everything else will be the same afterwards. You can set goals after story mode ends and sandbox begins. And you mustve been mislead, IF you COMMAND the troops right, the cavalry javelineers are the best troops in the game, although they cost much compared to the gear they have. Thats why people prefer Norse Nobles and Norse Huscarls because theyre the best infantry units and they have the most best geared Troop trees. It goes like this.Norse based Troops are heavily armored compared to Britons, Saxons and Picts.

Same with the Irish trough the WHOLE upgrade tree. Picts have the advantage on the Low ranks that they wield Godelic axes that do huge damage, although theyre poorly armored. So just about everything in Britain other than few random Norse troops theyre poorly armored until you reach the Noble rank of troops.

And

At that point they start wearing loricas which are comparable to chainmail. But they cost more than Huscarls and have less damage output. You can see all of these yourself by pressing TROOP TREE in one of the menus, and going trough what EVERY SINGLE TROOP is wearing on the battle. Also their stats are shown there when you click a troop. When I click on them nothing happens, I have to actually get the troop and ask him.Sorry i didn't quite get what you meant about Irish troops, are you saying they are heavily armoured or poorly armoured?I don't expect the Viking Alliance will be using pure Elite Danish Vikings, the Danes are only one part of the Alliance and they only have 6 lords and a single town. I don't know what Northumbria gets but I consider it part of Britain so I don't mind using Northumbrian troops.

Blade

I'm not sure if Frisia or Norway are even in the war. It seems like everyone on the map declared war on Wessex and Mercia but the story led me to believe the war was arranged by the Ragnarssons of Northumbria, theres one in Denmark and although I wrecked his plans to lead himself the King still sent troops, although it seems Sven wrecked it for me. And I ruined the Frisia plan so it should be just Northumbria and what's left of Denmark vs Mercia, Wessex and Asturias when they get here, so I don't get why the entire map declared war on usIn anycase I shouldn't need top tier units if Norway isn't in the war and Denmark's army has been wrecked. Even if Denmark comes back later it's not a very big faction.Well I just ran into a road block with the story. I've been sent to lay siege to Dun Something in Wales.

Apparently I'm supposed to siege a 450 man strong fortress with my rabble of 50 elite warriors. Anyway I decided that wasn't a good idea so I got some Wessex lord with 250 men to follow me and siege it with me. But apparently I have to hold it for 7 days, the lord buggered off and now 550 more men are laying siege so I get the feeling I'm not as prepared for this as I was supposed to beFortunately I have a save from right before I joined the invasion fleet. Check my plan please and tell me if it sounds okSo I already got my businesses in every city except for Frisia an Aileach (Last Tuath de Denaan gave me a -80 opinion hit to the king of Aileach)So am I correct in thinking I should build a Refuge in Wales next to Dun Thingy, then get high rep in all the Irish?

Villages and then stuff my upgraded refuge with them and fill up my party with them. Then do the story up to the siege thing, quickly siege it with my elite troops, dump them all in Dun Whatever and quickly transfer my men from my refuge into the castle. Then I can rush around Ireland recruiting more top tier units and dumping them in the castle. When I have about 1000 elites there I can finish the story, then move them all into my refuge, quit Wessex, quickly take a Gwyned castle and dump all my troops from the refuge back inside it before they desert, then take over Gwyned and use it as my starting point for Britannia conquest.Does that strategy look ok? Do you have anything to add?One more thing, what percent of the way am I through the story now? Do you have anything to add?One more thing, what percent of the way am I through the story now?irish troops themselves are also lightly armored (i really suggest you check trough the troop trees) the Troop Trees are not based on the Factions, But rather on their origin. Northymbrians use Norse troops, Picts use Irish Troops in troop tree etc, you can distinguish what troops which faction uses by looking at the lords troops of that specific faction.)You can just Siege the place, and since you most likely became a vassal of Northhymbre or West seaxe at this point, ASK for a lord to follow you there, or suggest they siege it.
