I am new to the game and I had no idea what a brick wall this particular fight can be. I did not properly prepare at all, according to what a lot of the guides I've consulted say. I do not have a Chameleon Robe; Ramza hasn't learned Auto-Potion, Two Swords, the only summons I can teach him are Shiva, Ramuh, Ifrit, Moogle, and Titan, and no matter which job I make Ramza or what I equip him with, Wiegraf always goes first and destroys me.

There was even a time when Wiegraf was able to take two turns before I could take even one, and while people suggest spamming Yell until my speed is high enough, that hasn't worked very well either. I'm at a complete loss here and I've invested a considerable amount of time into my save, so I would really rather not start over from scratch. Do you guys have any suggestions that have worked in your experience?.

Wiegraf Final Fantasy Tactics

It's a rough fight, there's no ifs and buts about it. IMO it's a major design flaw to toss in so many 1v1 fights with Ramza into the game because the developers basically assume that you're playing him as a duelist (like a Squire, Monk, or Ninja). With story battles it's possible to grind away the difficulty since story battles don't scale with your level; only random encounters do. This also kind of sucks because no one really should be forced to waste time doing trivial stuff just to get some +HP and other stat boosts. If I were to change two things about FFT I'd definitely change up the Wiegraf fight (or prep Ramza in the story for some 1v1 fights beyond just Gafgarion) and I'd probably remove T.G. Cid as well. This is why we always recommend running multiple saves because you can literally get trapped by this segment. The easiest solution is revert to an earlier save. There are other parts where you can get trapped like this (the next fight is equally difficult, Limberry later is close behind, and there's the point of no return when you enter the end game segment).Try switching to a class with high speed and setting your secondary to guts/mettle and use yell/tailwind.

Thief, archer and ninja all tend to be very fast. Check for accessories that might boost speed or movement. Set your movement ability to increase your range. It'll take awhile, but if can out run him and boost your speed start to boost your attack for a instant kill.If you still can't get fast enough try bulking up with the Knight or Squire class. Maybe you can survive one hit, then move in and hope for critical hits.

You could also try the jump ability, just jump anywhere and force him to skip a turn, it might create enough distance to start the yell/tailwind run around. The first time I did this fight I had two swords but could not land the 3-4 hits needed to end the fight. I did have enough JP to pick up Two Hands off the Samurai (effectively doubles the WP stat) and landed a critical with the first strike.
